I only learned yesterday of John's death and was saddened by the news. John and I worked together on a project in 2005 or 2006 -- at that time, we didn't meet because he was in Moscow and I was in New York. I had the opportunity to meet John on my one and only trip to Moscow in the Spring of 2008. We had a lovely breakfast and I enjoyed hearing about his work and life in Moscow. He seemed very happy there. He was an excellent lawyer and a friendly, interesting and decent man. My thoughts and prayers are with John's family, particularly his daughters. I hope you keep in your hearts your wonderful memories of him.

I was John's assistant from 2004 till summer 2006 in Moscow office of Orrick, I was told about his death 2 days ago... and still in a deep frustration. I regret so much that we had lost a contact 2 years ago due to our busy schedules and didn't exchange mail anymore. It is definitely a huge loss for a family and his children and it is a huge loss for all of us who had a real honor to know such person as John was, and who had a pleasure to talk to him, to laugh with him, to feel his attention and care. John for me was and will always be a sample of a Gentlemen in all he ever did, and especially in his manners, talent, sence of humor and personal culture.
I still can't believe in what happed...... why????? it is still no reason for....

I have many wonderful college memories of John. We shared crazy college Russian classes, antics and lots of theatrical endeavors...we studied in the USSR where he met his children's Mom. We laughed an awful lot and he was always the smartest, funniest guy in the room. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and send my deep and heartfelt condolences to his precious daughters and the rest of his family. There will never be another one like him...a true original. xoxo

A Wonderful Nephew |

We will always miss John and his beautiful smile, his gentleness, and his great love for Cape Cod. How he loved to fish and clam with Uncle Dave. We had so much fun with him whenever we got together here in Florida and at the Cape. John always had a Russian treasure or two for us -- as we see them we'll always think of him as the generous nephew he was. He never forgot his Uncle Dave and we'll remember his love and many visits. John will always hold a very special place in our hearts. Peace and love to you John, now and forever. Peace and love to you, also, Vi, Mary, Anne, Claire, Elizabeth, Christine, Anna, Sasha and all your families. Our hearts go out to all of you with deepest sympathy. Sending you love and many prayers, Dave and Anne

I'm very lucky to have known John. I'll never forget his sense of humor, his dedication to his work, and his great love for his wonderful family. May all who knew and miss John be comforted by the many happy memories that we have in our hearts. Rest in peace, my friend. My thoughts are with Sasha and Anna, Vi, and the rest of the family.

John Sheedy - wonderful chap |

Although I'd met John a few years ago in Moscow, I only really got to know him over the last year during his time with BB, and he had quickly become one of my favourite people to spend time with. His sense of humour was legend, and his Dr Evil impression second to none; would that I could have known him much, much longer. I so enjoyed his company, whether here in Moscow, at my birthday brunch last December, or on a hilarious and quality few days in Kazakhstan last summer. He was a truly wonderful man, much missed.

I had the honour and pleasure to work with John for this past year, but we knew each other for a long time before that. I think that he joined Baker Botts to stop my endless nagging for him to join me so that we could be work colleagues! He was an asset to this office - bright, humorous and experienced- and a good friend. This is a terrible loss for his family, friends, colleagues, and all those who met and knew John.
